The Mystery Blogger Award

Hello bookworms!

I was nominated by Marty @ The Cursed Books for this awesome award! Thank you so much, Marty! Apart from having this very cool name for her blog, her posts are witty, thoughtful and a very pleasant read! Do go follow her if you don’t already!

The rules…

  • Put the award logo/image on your blog.
  • List the rules.
  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well. (Okoto Enigma)
  • Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.
  • You have to nominate 10 – 20 people.
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog.
  • Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question (specify).
  • Share a link to your best post(s)

Starting with 3 things about myself!

1. I play the piano and, although I don’t do it very well, it’s always been something that touches my heart more than anything else. I couldn’t bring it to Germany when I moved and I miss it very much.

2. Among my favorite TV series are: How to Get Away With Murder, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Sense8, Jessica Jones, Friends (mostly for the nostalgia), Sherlock, Mordern Family.

3. I get easily bored with genres! I need to swap my readings constantly, otherwise I get saturated with the genre. Right now I’m in a fantasy & dark mysteries mood, but I’m sure this will change soon. I’m sensing a historical fiction vibe coming.

It took many hours of brainstorming and working, but I’m quite happy with how this post turned out!

Questions from Marty:

1. What are some of your most favourite movies?

I love The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit trilogy, Harry Potter, Shutter Island, Twelve Angry Men, Maleficent, Wonder Woman, Men in Black. And probably others… I’m not very good at keeping track.

2. If you could live in a bookish universe, which one would it be?

Such a hard question! I am torn between the Night Court from A Court of Thorns and Roses series and the His Dark Materials Universe – the idea of having a daemon is just very interesting to me.

3. Do you have any diverse book recommendations?

YA: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, When Dimple met Rishi by Sandhya Menon, History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera

Contemporary: Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, The Vegetarian by Han Kang,

Fantasy/Magical Realism: Ahmnat – Os Amores da Morte (in Portuguese) by Julien de Lucca, One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Marquez,

Historical Fiction: Inside Out and Back Again by Thanhha Lai, Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides

etc…

4. If you could only read one genre in your entire life, what genre would that be?

Oh my god that is such a difficult question??? I simply can’t choose… they’re all my babies.

5. Dogs or cats?

I can’t choose that either! Hahaha I love dogs and was a hardcore dog-person for most of my life, but I have grown up and I identify with cats more nowadays… so… both? But as a pet, I think a cat would be more ideal!

My nominees:

Nut Free Nerd / Little Blind Book Finds / Book Princess Reviews / Diary of a Bookfiend / Books and Munches / Wild and Wonderful Reads / Reading Every Night / Books and Belle / Boston Book Reader / Marianna Reads / Bionic Bookworm Blog / MNBernard Books / Owl Reads / Early Bookish Birds

My questions!

  1. What bookish universe did you find easiest to get immersed into?
  2. What is a bookish trope you hate?
  3. And what bookish trope you don’t mind reading?
  4. Suggest a diverse book!
  5. Funny/weird question: If you were a beverage, which would you be and why?

  1. Oooooh this was so much fun to read, Naty! I loved reading your answers. SENSE8 IS AMAZING. I have found so few people that love it, so yay! 😀 Aren’t you so glad they are doing a finale thing for it?? And I think I’m moving to the Night Court with you. It sounds so beautiful, and I definitely want to jump in there, too. 😉 Thanks so much for tagging me, and I can’t wait to answer your questions. Wonderful post! ❤

    • Thank you so much, Mandy, that was such a sweet comment!! ❤ Yes, let's move to the Night Court and binge-watch Sense8 together!! I am very, very glad they're doing an extra episode/movie, it was very upsetting when Netflix decided to cancel it. I absolutely LOVE Sun & Wolfgang and I need them to stay a bit longer in my life! 😀

  2. Aww! Thank you for the nomination, Naty! 😀 I wish I had the time to do awards nowadays, but I am grateful for even being thought of. 🙂

Hahaha! I don’t know if I could choose to read a single genre the rest of my life either. I’ve been reading way too much fantasy lately and my brain is getting tired of it. So, I’ll need to switch soon. I can’t imagine being stuck in fantasy forever! 0.0

Cats and dogs are a very hard choice. I love and have had both. They’re so different from each other and both of them have perks and disadvantages. They’re just impossible to compare! :p

    • I’ve been reading more fantasy lately too… but I definitely couldn’t read only it my whole life… so yeah I definitely know what you mean! 😀

Cats are ❤ and dogs are ❤ and I don't know why we'd have to choose!

  3. Thanks so much for the tag, I can’t wait to answer the questions you set. 😀 Also great answers for the questions you had. The Hate U Give is an incredible book, and it’s definitely one I’d recommend to anyone, not just people who were looking for diverse reads, same goes for any book by Adam Silvera I think. 🙂
Also I’d love to live in the Night Court from ACOTAR series, the way SJM wrote it made it seem so so beautiful.
Again thanks for the tag. 😀
