Bookish Playlist #1

Hello readers!

So I saw this post from Martha @ The Cursed Books and I thought it was so cool! So today I’ll be writing a similar post, selecting some books and pairing them with songs!

Penryn & The End of Days Trilogy

I’m pairing this up with… Heaven Knows, by The Pretty Reckless!

Oh oh, heaven knows
We belong way down below
Oh oh, tell a soul
We belong way down below

I just remembered this song, too! Angel, by Within Temptation:

Sparkling angel
I believe
You are my saviour
In my time of need

Blinded by faith
I couldn’t hear
All the whispers
The warning’s so clear

Wuthering Heights

Small cheat here, because I simply MUST pair it with… Wuthering Heights.

Heathcliff, it’s me, Cathy, I’ve come home
I’m so cold, let me in your window

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

Not a perfect match, but I think it fits the book and Evelyn’s personality! Hard out Here:

If I told you ’bout my sex life
You’d call me a slut
When boys be talking ’bout their bitches
No one’s making a fuss

Sometimes, it’s hard to find the words to say
I’ll go ahead and say them anyway
Forget your balls and grow a pair of tits
It’s hard, it’s hard
It’s hard out here for a bitch

Do you have ideas of other songs to be matched with these books?

  1. I absolutely love the idea behind this post! And haha, I keep seeing Wuthering Heights pop up in posts- it really makes me think I should pick it up again (I’ve tried reading it like three times in the past and couldn’t get more than 20 pages in… help).
Maybe I’ll pick it up again a fourth time! I’ll definitely be listening to the song and… who knows?
