Summer is almost there and, although it’s still technically late Spring, it very much feels like Summer here in Germany! As per usual, the hot weather tends to put me in the mood for lighter reads, not so much fantasy and thrillers, but more contemporaries and YA. I’ve selected 10 books I want to read until the end of August.
My list from last year: Summer 2017 Reading List
Autoboyography by Christina Lauren
So, I’ve heard pretty amazing things about this books, and it does sound pretty cool!! Also I love the cover so much. And Summer is such a great time to read contemporaries.
Lab Girl by Hope Jahren
This is the biography of Hope Jahren, who is a scientist, and I think it will be a very fun read!
Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde
I’ve heard this is a fun, light and quirky read! I love that it’s about geeks and sounds perfect for Summer!
Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman
This book is about mental illness, and I love its cover. I’ve been wanting to read this for months.
Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills
Okay, so this was probably a cover-buy, but it’s also a retelling of Shakespeare and sounds adorable.
Florida by Lauren Groff
I love Lauren Groff’s Fates and Furies, so I am very curious to read her short-stories collection. And somehow the cover and the title remind me of Summer, so… why not?
The Queen of Hearts by Kimmery Martin
I added a fantasy book to mix up a bit, and this cover is so lovely and a bit springy, so I thought it’d be nice to read while it’s still late Spring and right before Summer!
The Italian Teacher by Tom Rachman
A gorgeous cover for a literary book that sounds very, very interesting. It’s about paintings and I suspect it will be a heartbreak (isn’t all literary fiction??).
What if it’s us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera
I am SO looking forward to reading this!
Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J. Maas
Another fantasy YA! This one comes out in August, and I just cannot be expected to see it come out and not immediately read it, so I’ve added it as a book I’ll definitely read this in August!
Do you have certain genres you also prefer reading on Summer?
