It’s been another busy week, so my reading did not advance as much as I hoped, but I made progress in two books and I’m quite content with that!
This week I received from Netgalley:
Weekly Wrap Up
The Burning God by R. F. Kuang
I’ve been itching to read this and I FINALLY got around to it! My review comes up on Friday, but to sum up: the first half is intense, bloody, gory and full of revenge, the second half felt very slow and long but the ending is really great and this was a very good book, even if too long.
The Split by Laura Kay
I needed something sweet to read after The Burning God, so I picked up The Split thinking it was a romcom, but it’s mostly a contemporary about friendship and queerness, with a bit of romance. I’m in the beginning still but this is already really fun!
Dragonshadow by Elle Katherine White
This is the second installment to the Heartstone series, a Pride and Prejudice retelling with dragons. I have no idea where this second book is going, but the first one was a delicious read and I am still healing from a week of reading dark fantasy, so! This is a perfect book for that, if book 1 is anything to go by.
