One more week and we’re in February. I don’t have much to say about this week, I was mostly busy with work and making some progress on my reading. The cat is not happy about work taking up so much of our time (mine and my husband’s) and no longer being able to sleep on humans all day. Yes, cat, we all are sad about it.
This week I bought:
Weekly Wrap Up
Midnight Robber by Nalo Hopkinson / ongoing
I am about a third through this and I think the story will now become wild and magical and dangerous – so far it’s been super interesting and I’m curious to see where it goes. ALSO the narration on the audiobook is incredible, highly highly recommend!
Illusion by Paula Volsky / ongoing
This will still take time to finish! I’m reading it so slowly and it’s so long and so dense, but really enjoying it. It’s truly a fantasy epic to get immersed in and I am starting to really like the main character.
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers / ongoing
This is FUN and I am really enjoying it! I’m still only 10% through because I didn’t read much this week, but really looking forward to reading this and the rest of the series!
Long Bright River by Liz Moore / 3 stars
I expected to really love this book, and somehow was under the impression it was a crime thriller, but it’s rather a mystery, a story about two sisters, about addiction, corruption in the police force, power, family, forgiveness. It’s truly a very interesting book with such relevant themes, but it did not work so well for me – it was just incredibly long and I got bored reading a few times, plus the ending felt a bit meh. But otherwise I thought it had its brilliant moments and I was impressed by how sensitively the author touched on the difficult themes in this book!
