I have received this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book attracted me immediately with its creepy cover and intriguing synopsis: Ben is a medical student known for his pragmatic personality. He goes to a trip in Paris with his friend Laurette, where he enters a catacomb and gets hurt in an old bone.
I loved the creepy, horror feel of the novel. I flew through its pages and was always on the edge to see who would fall victim to the curse next and if they would survive! I really liked Laurette, too, a Haitian student who wants to become a nurse to help her country. Continue reading

This was such a fun read, I didn’t expect it to be so entertaining. When I read the blurb saying it was both a heart-warming story about friendship and also a horror story, I was a bit confused. But yes! This reads like a summer horror blockbuster, and I had lots of fun.
My Best Friend’s Exorcism is the story of Abby and Gretchen, and the fall of ’88, when Gretchen is possessed by a demon. She’s moody, irritable, edgy – and strange things keep happening around her. Now, Abby must find a way to help her friend, even if nobody will believe her. Will their friendship be strong enough?

I have received a free copy of Arena from the author of this book. This in no way affects the opinions reflected on this review.
When seventeen-year-old Tasa Strong is ‘taken’ by the dreaded Iron Cart, she finds herself in a vast arena filled with wild animals and grotesque killers. In order to survive, and save her beloved friend Valeria, Tasa must work with eleven other children to find a way forward – even as she comes to understand that many of them cannot be trusted, and may also be a danger to her life. As they struggle to survive, and compete, they are forced to make horrifying life and death decisions; voting on which in their company should be killed. This act threatens to tear any potential alliances apart; and factions form within their group. Yet still Tasa must struggle forward, led by a boy who seems to want to save her and her friend: yet also clearly has his own secret reasons and brutal abilities – until at last she faces a final and terrifying round of dangers that will reveal the most unexpected and shocking betrayal, and potential reward… Continue reading

This book is such a gem! I don’t read a lot of horror, although this one is probably closer to a mystery thriller in my opinion, and I had not heard about it at all, until I saw it on Amazon Unlimited. The story sounded interesting and it was among their most popular and best-rated books in the Unlimited list, so I thought – well, why not?
